loud poets

Loud Poets was launched in 2014 with the aim of making poetry something that could be enjoyed by the masses. They are now a collective of poets, writers, musicians and artists who create monthly nights, Fringe shows, commissions, workshop and videos.

This is slam-style, make some noise, fist-thumping, pint-drinking, side-tickling, heart-wrenching poetry.

Aiblins is a selection of new Scottish political poetry. The poems in this collection reflect the tumultuous, rapidly evolving nature of contemporary Scottish politics. They also stand as a testament to the deep engagements poets are making with the political landscape today, not only by reflecting on current events through their work but also by issuing provocations which reframe and challenge conventional assumptions. Edited by Katie Ailes & Sarah Paterson; published by Luath Press (2016).

The debut CD from Loud Poets, featuring poems from Katie Ailes, Kevin Mclean, Catherine Wilson, and Doug Garry (including a couple of collaborative pieces), all accompanied by our Loud band, Ekobirds. The CD has ten studio-recorded tracks plus one special live recording from our Edinburgh Fringe run in 2016.

The debut pamphlet from Pennsylvania-born, Scotland-based spoken word artist Katie Ailes explores transatlantic distance, loss, and finding home in the unexpected. Published summer 2015.

House of Three is a new publication imprint of Hybrid Press whose first three volumes published nine outstanding Scotland-based female poets. This volume contains the work of Katie Ailes, Katy Ewing, and Iona Lee. Published in 2016.
