Books at The Scottish Design Exchange

By the time you've bought a book from Amazon, it will have already made three journeys. Once from the printers to the distributors, and then to an Amazon warehouse, and once more through the post to your residence.

As it's the publisher that foots the bill for this, The Scottish Design Exchange has run an experiment, so far gathering 18 Scottish publishers who with the benefit of the shop can increase the amount they make from every £10 sale, from about £1 to about £8.

After all, it's from this amount that they have to pay themselves, the printers, the authors, the editors, the typesetters and designers, and any marketing they may wish to do.

Books have been selling well at The Scottish Design Exchange in Leith because readers appreciate this difference - plus we've also now got a full range of titles, thanks to the diversity of Scottish publishing. That includes novels, photography, politics, poetry, travel, children's books, sport and some special ephemera that you can only find on our shelves!
